Introducing Sphinx: A Dynamic Content Portal
Saturday, May 17th, 2008 10:21pm CDT
Sphinx web portal is an Open Source, PHP, Mysql, website portal. Also commonly referred to as a CMS, a portal or CMS can combine powerful features of other projects to create a great looking, easy to use, easy to configure website “out of the box”.
The history of Sphinx has been several years in the making, and now its time has come to shine in its own light. Its focus is to bring a more simple and enjoyable web experience to its users, while providing quality support and world class stability.
Sphinx has launched a new version, Sphinx 1.1, which has just been released as a “gold” status, and runs on the power and stability of the SMF 1.1.x product line.
Sphinx may be installed brand new, or we also offer upgrades from an outdated portal known as Enigma (versions 1.x or their 2.0 release candidate, which has been discontinued).
Upcoming Roadmap:
- Spring 2007
- -
Sphinx 1.1: SMF 1.1.x compatibilityCompleted
- -
- Mid 2008
- Sphinx 2.0: Completely standalone product, being written to bring back the simplicity and elegance of the web portal/cms world. Upon its release, anticipated for Mid 2008, it will be compatible with not only SMF, but will also allow you to choose additional forums as well, or none at all. Scheduled for compatibility in addition to SMF is bbPress, and Vanilla. Additional forums will be bridged as time allows once a release is available. Please note that these specific features are subject to change, as is the name of the product.
Thanks for using Sphinx, and cheers to a continuation of a successful 2007 for all.
The team at Dynamic Systems and Content Solutions.
