I defined a "full ban" for a member but he keeps posting.

Is this a known issue or are there some special steps to do?

I've never had any issues with bans not working.  Have you checked the triggers activated for the account?

This is more an SMF issue than Sphinx, you might get more info on the Simple Machines forum.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

It seems that when selecting "full ban" no triggers are created - which I thought/assumed they would.  If I select the different triggers manually then it seems to work.

I've always just set all the triggers manually "just in case", so that might be why I haven't noticed the behaviour you're seeing.

I'll try some experimenting later and see what sort of results I can observe.

SMF doesn't select any triggers by default, so if you just choose "Full Ban" without selecting a trigger, you'll get a new ban group that has no triggers associated with it. You need to select the triggers yourself since SMF can't read your mind and doesn't know what you want to accomplish.

Fair enough.

It was not clear at all to me that "Restrictions" and "Triggers" had to be set.

Might be nice that if one selects full ban that at least the "user name" trigger is set, I think it should even be "user name" and "email".

Anyhow, now I know and will hopefully not forget it again.

Thanks
